Former NFL wide receiver’s role with team is currently under review

EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. — Calle Ochocinco majority owner Corey Hersch issued the following statement Friday night regarding a tweet sent out by minority partner Chad Johnson:

Earlier tonight, it came to my attention that Chad Johnson (@ochocinco) sent out a tweet that could only be described as in the poorest of taste. In the name of transparency, we will post it below:

It goes without saying that the sentiments expressed in Chad’s tweet do not reflect my views nor any of Calle Ochocinco’s players and staff. We are appalled at the crude language used in the tweet and have always been supporters of monogamous relationships team-wide.

Both Chad and Pitbull have been incredibly valuable to our franchise in serving as fantastic ambassadors for the Calle Ochocinco brand. While it is Chad’s right as an American to speak his mind as he pleases, I have to consider what is in the best interest of both our fans and our team. I am currently placing his status with the team under official review. I will be meeting with our Board of Directors early next week to determine how we will move forward.

On behalf of the entire organization, I would like to issue the sincerest of apologies to our fans and all of Bobcats4Ever for Chad’s actions. We hold ourselves to the highest standard of professionalism, and in this instance we have failed. It will not happen again.
