“We’ll show you what real meat is.” – HBD SALAMI?! Owner Jamie Palatini

STAMFORD, Conn. — Feb. 3, 2014 — Following approval of Bobcats4Ever Commissioner and Small-Town Americans Owner Kyle Brennan, HOW BOUT DAT?! Owner and GM Jamie Palatini has announced a partnership with a new minority owner, as well as a re-branding of the club heading into the 2015 season.

Beginning today, and in subsequent promotional materials and releases hereafter, the franchise will be re-branded as HOW BOUT DAT SALAMI?!. In addition, Salume Beddu, a St. Louis-based salumeria recognized by Forbes’ Larry Olmstead as the producer of the best salami in the U.S., has purchased a stake in the HOW BOUT DAT SALAMI?! franchise as a minority owner.

“We believe in our Italian roots, and we believe in delicious deli meats,” GM Palatini said on a conference call with the media. “This will be a delectable, flavorful partnership between two like entities. Just as Salume Beddu produces quality salami with bold flavor, among other charcuterie, our team has made bold moves each season, and will continue to do so in the future. And to my fellow league owners, other than the honorable Corey Hersch, I simply say this; we’ll show you what real meat is.”

In addition to naming Salume Beddu, which translates to “Beautiful Salami,” as the top salami producer in the U.S., Forbes also recognized the formerly-named HOW BOUT DAT?! franchise as the most-valuable franchise in the B4E league, generating a league-high $192 of revenue over two seasons. Financial details, including percentage of ownership by Salume Beddu, as well as the purchase price, were not disclosed.

“I think it’s great whenever an owner decides to incorporate one of his true loves into the name of his franchise,” Bobcats4Ever Commissioner Kyle Brennan said. “However, in speaking with a few owners behind the scenes, we think that Jamie’s incorporation of salami into his team name could foreshadow the struggle of a season that could be forthcoming. Nonetheless, we look forward to the potential this change has in bringing additional sales revenue to the league.”
