First Trade Vetoed Under New Rules
League Seizes Chaotic Opportunity to Expand Social Media Presence
BEACON FALLS, Conn. — Bobcats4Ever Fantasy Football League ownership vetoed on Thursday morning a trade between MIII-LES … YOU SUCK! and the Leapin’ Chancellors.
The trade, which was originally accepted by owners Jamie Palatini and Alex Birsh at 10:23 a.m. on Thursday, would have seen MIII-LES … YOU SUCK! send Indianapolis WR Donte Moncrief, New Orleans QB Drew Brees and an 11th-round draft pick in 2016 to the Leapin’ Chancellors for Dallas WR Dez Bryant, San Diego QB Philip Rivers and an eighth-round draft pick in 2016.
Bryant was a first-round keeper selection of the Leapin’ Chancellors in the 2015 Bobcats4Ever Draft. Brees had been traded to MIII-LES … YOU SUCK! earlier this season by Deacon Blues.
The first veto, submitted by Deacon Blues owner Miles McQuiggan, came just five minutes after the trade was originally accepted. Soon after, vetoes followed from Second Floor Shits owner Len Neslin, Mealz on Wheelz owner Ted Sellers, Mr. McGibblets owner Matt Eisenberg, Calle Ochocinco owner Corey Hersch, Small-Town Americans owners Kyle Brennan and Team Spillzzzzzzz owner Mark Spillane.
The veto threshold, which was set at the 2015 Bobcats4Ever Owners Meeting in January, is six owners. This marks the first trade that has been vetoed under the new system.
“I think this situation shows that our new trade veto system is going to work very well,” Bobcats4Ever Commissioner Kyle Brennan said. “Last year, it was apparent that a few sour grapes would be enough to get a trade nixed. It was so easy, in fact, that we had three trades vetoed in 90 minutes at one point. This new system ensures that only the most unfair trades will be vetoed.”
Seven trades have already been completed through the first three weeks of the season. This is the first trade to receive even a single veto, let alone the six required to nullify the trade.
“The fact that we had seven trades pass through with unanimous agreement prior to this one shows that the trade in question was truly unfair,” the commissioner said. “The league encourages all owners to continue to negotiate in good faith and not to take advantage of other owners who may be experiencing burdens in the workplace.”
SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE GROWS: The latest in the league’s ongoing trade veto saga gave Commissioner Brennan an opportunity to increase the Bobcats4Ever presence on social media.
Brennan set up his official Twitter account— @b4ecommish — shortly before noon Thursday. He immediately followed the league’s ownership, as well as several team-specific and media accounts.
His profile reads: “Commissioner of the Bobcats4Ever Fantasy Football League, a 12-team league that consumes our owners’ lives.”
In addition, the league added a Twitter widget to its official website — b4effl.kylebrennan.net — which displays the latest tweets of several notable accounts related to league functions. Brennan praised the Bobcats4Ever Technological Operations Unit Council Headquarters (TOUCH) for its work in upgrading the website.
“We want to make sure our website has all the latest league information,” Brennan said. “We had essentially been ignoring the value that Twitter brings to our league, but TOUCH really came through again. It’s simple, yet effective.”
